Patriarchal Blessing of George Benjamin Wallace
Nauvoo
April
10, 1845
A blessing by John Smith, Patriarch, upon the head of George
B. son of John and Mary Wallace, born Feb. 16, 1817,
Epsom,
New Hampshire. Brother George I lay my hands upon thy head
by the authority of my office in the name of Jesus Christ, I seal upon thee the
blessing of a father; because thou hast obeyed the gospel, separated thyself
from this ungodly generation in the midst of persecution and forsaken as it
were all things for the gospel’s sake the Lord is well pleased and angels
rejoice over thee and they sins are forgiven. They name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. In as much as thou art liberal God will deal
liberally with thee and he will freely give thee all things and commit unto
they charge the keys of the mysteries of the priesthood which will unfold unto
thee all the mysteries of the
Redeemers
Kingdom. This is thy right of inheritance from thy
fathers, for thou art of the house of Jacob through the loin of Joseph. Tis thy privilege to travel and preach at thy
pleasure among the Gentiles or Lamanites as seemeth thee good. Thou shalt be blessed abundantly and
prospered in thy labors even beyond thine expectation; when thou art satisfied
with thy labors abroad, thou shall return to be a counselor in the house of
Israel forever for this is thy calling to preside over a stake of Zion and thou
shalt have judgment and wisdom to do all things as shall be pleasing to the
Lord. Thou shall be blessed in thy
family with a numerous posterity, with a healthy habitation, peace and plenty
shall surround thy labors. Thy days and
years shall be as thy faith, even to see all things accomplished, which the
Lord has spoken concerning
Zion, be numbered
with the 144,000 and stand on
Mt.
Zion in the last
days. This is thy blessing which shall
not fail if thou art faithful, sealed upon thee and thine forever, Amen.
